What You Need To Know About How To Buy Stun Guns Online There are a lot of myths and misconceptions when it comes to stun guns. Some people have claimed that it is illegal to buy them or ship them or even own them. Most of the time this absolutely is not the case. While there are very strict laws regarding the buying, selling, and shipping of firearms in the United States, stun guns are an entirely different matter. These are non-lethal forms of self defense that aren't nearly as strictly regulated and because of this most people absolutely have the option to buy stun guns online. What Are Stun Guns? Stun guns come in a variety of forms. Basically they are a civilian version of a taser. The shock must be far lower to be legal, however the amount of electricity that shoots out from a stun gun is more than enough to take down a large and powerful man. Stun guns come in many forms and can be partially hidden in flashlights, cameras, or even large "key rings" that allow for a stun gun attack that comes via punching motion. There are many different companies that produce stun guns and the goal is the same: providing a non-lethal yet dependable form of self defense that allows women, small men, or anyone slight of build to defend themselves from a much larger attacker. No matter how tough an attacker, they are going to fold quickly when a few million volts go through them. What Are The Rules/Regulations For Stun Guns? The truth is that regulation in most areas is very light when it comes to stun guns. There are some basics that simply make sense. Individuals need to be 18 years old or older to buy these and to carry them legally. In addition, felons should not order a stun gun as this often qualifies as a weapon that is illegal for them to possess. Use basic common sense when it comes to general regulations and you are probably in good shape. However there are some states and local regions that have additional requirements. While this list can change, as of now these are the places with additional requirements: States With Restrictions When it comes to the rules that surround stun guns, some states have serious additional restrictions when it comes to stun guns. In these states the carrying, purchase, and use of stun guns are different than in the majority of the United States. In fact, with these eight states for all intensive purposes stun guns should be considered illegal or mostly illegal and you will unfortunately need to look for other options. These states are: - Hawaii - Illinois - Massachusetts - Michigan - New Jersey - New York - Rhode Island - Wisconsin - The District of Columbia (DC) (Not a state - but important to note, nonetheless) There are two other states with additional regulations of note at this point. The state of Connecticut allows you to buy stun guns online since these self defense tools are legal to have for home use. In other words, home defense against break ins, intruders, or anything else that happens within your own home but it is illegal to carry these in public in the state. Finally, there's the state of Indiana. While stun guns are fully legal in this state, they are regulated in the same way that firearms are and must be properly registered and those who want to carry them in public will need to successfully apply for a permit to carry a concealed weapon. Other Areas With Additional Restrictions There are four cities and two counties where stun guns are illegal, even though they are legal throughout the rest of the state that those cities and counties are located in. If you live in any of these areas, you cannot order a stun gun because it is illegal to even possess them. The counties are: - Baltimore County, Maryland - Crawford County, Iowa The cities are: - Baltimore, Maryland (I know, big surprise after the county list) - Annapolis, Maryland - Chicago, Illinois - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania If you live in any of those areas then unfortunately stun guns are not a viable legal option. What To Look For In A Stun Gun One of the first things to consider is what type of shape or form works. While a baton with a stun gun at the end sounds great, are you really going to just carry around a baton that is obviously a self defense weapon? Most people won't. What about a flashlight? How often does a full size flashlight make sense as something you'll carry around? That could be a maybe or maybe not depending on where you tend to go and what situations you find yourself in. When you have an idea of the different designs that are available and which ones are most likely to be a good fit for you, you will be able to start looking at very specific models and start price shopping between providers who offer the same (or similar) models. The next thing is to look at manufacturers. There are actually a surprising number of companies who create high quality self defense tools, and the sheer number of options available is something that might surprise you the first time you go to buy stun guns online. VIPERTEK is one major company that comes up a lot when it come to finding a variety of different stun guns, but they're not even close to the only ones. Also an important note while doing your search: you will find many different write ups for stun guns that say things like "military grade" or "police strength." Very rarely do these mean they're the same as the military or police use. These are great trendy and buzzy words for attracting buyers, but do your research when looking into the company and customer reviews because these are not easy road signs to the best available options. The Importance Of Digging Into Customer Reviews Many people do some general research on the rating of any particular stun gun and while that is a very good start, it's not nearly enough. Unfortunately when online there are many companies that hire fake reviewers to write them great reviews and then also hire those same reviewers to write fake terrible reviews about the competition's products. If you only look at the total star average you won't see the obvious fake reviews. Make no mistake about it, the fake ones are obvious, too. Take the time to look through a few of them. You will be able to very quickly figure out who the real reviews are from and which ones are bought or fake. This helps keep you from being duped and makes it all the easier in figuring out which stun guns to really look at and which ones to avoid. Where To Buy Stun Guns Online There are many different options when it comes to making the actual purchase. Amazon.com carries over 100 stun guns as of this writing, with more being added every month. This isn't just from one or two companies, either, it comes from a wide variety of companies which means you still get that full selection you're hoping for. A surprising number of stun guns can also be found on eBay, where you may get a great deal but as always when buying used caveat emptor. In addition to these two general sites that have a large number of options, it is also important to take a look at the many websites specializing in stun guns and self defense tools online. This isn't a small market, and often times by going to the website of an actual business you can ask any questions you have from someone who actually works with multiple types of stun guns day in and day out. They're often happy to help you with any questions you have and help you figure out what the best option is for your specific budget. Buying locally is never a bad idea, so look for the online stores of local (or relatively local) businesses and give them a chance to prove they have exactly what you're looking for. The number of options are pretty remarkable. In Conclusion When it comes to protecting yourself, choosing to buy stun guns online can be a great way to get the non-lethal self defense measures you need. While local, county, and state laws will always be important to pay attention to since these can add additional restrictions, as long as you have done your homework there is no reason not to look at buying a stun gun. As far as federal law is concerned it is legal to buy your stun guns online, legal to ship them, and legal to own them. As long as you don't live in one of the restricted areas mentioned earlier in this article there's absolutely no reason you can't legally order a stun gun from the online website of your choice and have it sent to your house. Then you can walk around in confidence, knowing you are protected!

What is a stun gun?

A stun gun is a handheld device which having a trigger and two metal prongs at the end of the unit. You have to make contact with the perpetrator by putting the two metal prongs of the stun gun anywhere on your body before you pull the trigger.

How does a stun gun work?

If an electric shock is delivered to the attacker's muscles he or she will experience severe muscle contractions which produce lactic acid. Lactic acid is a byproduct produced when a muscle is overworked as a result of the effects caused by the stun gun. Lactic acid will be caused by a fatiguing muscle exposed to repeated electric shock from a stun gun.

Moreover, the electric shock from the stun gun interrupts the attacker's nervous system hence minimizing communication from the brain to the peripheral nerves. The electrifying effects of the stun gun, as well as the interruption in nerve flow, will temporarily incapacitate an attacker who wants to get you.

Are there any other types of stun guns?

Yes. There is a law enforcement edition of a stun gun known as Taser.  A Taser stun gun has two metal darts connected to fine, threadlike wiring.

When the Taser stun gun is fired, the two darts stick to the person's body. The handheld unit of the Taser gun has a trigger which when pulled sends an electric shock through the wiring, to the darts and finally to the attacker. The result is that the perpetrator will fall to the ground as a result of the agonizing pain. This type of stun gun is effective in short range confrontations which may be up to 15 feet. The user does not have to come into contact with the attacker.

Stun batons are the second type of stun gun devices. This type of stun guns is mostly used by security guards. Because of their extended reach, you can maintain a distance between yourself and the perpetrator.

Batons have two metal strips on each side of the baton. The perpetrator will be electrified is he or she tries to grab the baton. Our stun batons come many different design. Why fear an attacker when you have a stun gun?
